  • a community-led collective uniting Black youth, families, and individuals across Halton—including 2SLGBTQQIA+ community members
  • work to create safer spaces, build community, raise awareness, and empower Black residents of all ages through education, celebration, and advocacy
  • also work in relationship with Indigenous community members, recognizing that Black liberation is linked to Indigenous liberation

Key program areas include:

  • Halton Black Student Union (HBSU): Safe/brave space for Black students to discuss issues in and out of school and access peer support

  • Deep Roots Sports Leadership Program: Basketball skill-building alongside leadership, cultural identity, pride, and well-being

  • Healing Projects: Community and environmental initiatives that nurture mental health, joy, resilience, and communal healing

  • Equity Learning Space: Engaging education for residents, educators, and service providers; postsecondary exploration; and support for Black cultural creation locally
