Homestay Placement and Support for Students

Provides placement, orientation, accommodation options, and ongoing support for international students participating in homestay programs in Canada

  • matches students with screened host families that meet safety and cleanliness standards
  • provides furnished rooms, linens, storage, bathroom access, and a dedicated study space
  • offers meal plan options including full board, half board, bed & breakfast, room stay, and room hold; full board required for minor students
  • supplies pre‑arrival guides and cultural orientation materials to prepare students for homestay life
  • sends host family profiles prior to placement to support informed decision‑making
  • provides 24‑hour support for all student needs during their stay
  • assists students in adjusting to local transportation, banking, health services, and other aspects of daily Canadian life

Host Family Recruitment and Support

Recruits host families, prepares them for hosting responsibilities, and provides continuous support throughout each student placement

  • welcomes hosts from diverse household types including single‑parent families, older adults, and traditional families
  • supports hosts in integrating students into daily family routines including meals, conversations, and local activities
  • maintains regular communication with hosts and provides a dedicated relationship manager for ongoing support
  • provides 24‑hour assistance for hosts to address concerns, emergencies, and placement‑related issues
  • manages matching, onboarding, expectations, and communication between students and hosts to ensure positive experiences for both parties

Eligibility

International students

  • ages 10-75, from more than 70 countries, participating individually or in groups

Host families

  • of varied household types including single‑parent families, older adults, traditional two‑parent families, and single women committed to supporting homestay students
  • applicant's location must be in the school board catchment area or within 45mins bus ride one way to or from the school/university/college
  • if the bedroom that you want to provide is in the basement, it has to have a legal-size egress window in it
